I am Rom, a custom Shnoops made by Manda. Manda created me in colors that would go well with Minibyte's logo and web site colors. I am one of the very few Cyberpets that Minibyte has and she likes me a lot!
Minibyte chose me to host this page because wallpaper is an image, a picture. Just like me! Wallpapers in Petz have been around since the very beginning. Just ask Mugz and Fluffy. When they were adopted they discovered that there was no backyard. No pretty rooms to play in either! All they had was a Playpen! The wallpapers let them change the "floor" or background of their playpen. Having a change of scenery was great because a grey background covered with pawprints can get boring real fast!
People soon discovered that the Playpenz had some great benefits. There were no ledges, gaze spots, walls, fences, etc to distract petz. And there were no toys unless you added them. So it was a perfect place to train petz! Even better, in Petz 3 and 4 it was an ideal setting for breeding petz. With nothing else there, the petz couldn't help but notice each other. Because of these benefits, many people were upset when the Playpen disappeared in the Petz 5 version of the game.

However, if you are using Petz 5, you can still use and enjoy the Playpenz wallpapers. You can even make a playpen scene and use it for training and breeding! Simply go to the Playscene Editor, as usual, and import a wallpaper for the background image. Tile it. Voila! Your screen now looks like the old Playpen. Put the horizon up high if you want your petz to have lots of room to play in. Put it down low if you intend to use the scene for breeding and want to limit the play area so that petz can't get too far away from each other. You can, of course, add any of the other elements, but I usually keep my Playpenz scenes very simple.
You can have even more fun by making your own wallpapers! There are several ways to do this. First, you can use a paint program. Make your image 128 pixels by 128 pixels. Make sure it has only 256 colors and save it as a bmp. Images you create to use as wallpapers look best if they are seamless (you can't see where the image ends when it is tiled). Programs like Paintshop Pro have a menu option to help you do this. If you don't have that option, try to center any design elements on your bitmap so that the edges of it are plain. A second way to increase your wallpaper collection is to download free web page background images and convert them to bmp files. Make sure they are 128 pixels by 128 pixels and 256 colors. A third way is to crop a 128 pixel by 128 pixel section out of any picture or photograph. Again, you need to make sure you save the file as a 256 color bmp file. You won't be able to make most of these seamless and sometimes conversion will make the colors go weird. However, you can often get some very nice effects and backgrounds.
The list below will help if you are looking for a specific Wallpaper or for Wallpapers in a certain theme.. Choose a name in the alphabetical list and click on it. You will be taken to the room in the archive where that file is stored. Eventually, there will be many storage rooms in the archive. If you know the site that the wallpaper you want is from, you might find it faster and easier to use the Site List. |
